Jackie Chan… Open Mouth Insert Foot

One of the worst things that you can say is something that can come across negative against your race, especially if you are a celebrity. Jackie Chan is a perfect example of this theory.

At a recent business forum, the Chinese actor was quoted saying “”I’m gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we’re not being controlled, we’ll just do what we want.” Hmmm, is that a cheap shot at us Americans?

According to the AP, Chan added: “I’m not sure if it’s good to have freedom or not,” , adding freedoms in his native Hong Kong and Taiwan made those societies “chaotic.” Taiwan, which split from China in 1949, is democratic and Hong Kong , a separately ruled Chinese territory, enjoys some free elections.”

 

 

 I guess by those comments, humans really shouldn’t have any type of freedom. It sounds as if he is implying that freedom should be rationed out to everyone, like popsicles to kids on a hot day.

Legislators from Hong Kong and Taiwan are pissed off at these comments saying that Chan is insulting their race. Many scholars have written on the Internet saying that Chan is”not understanding how precious freedom is,” even though “free Hong Kong provided the conditions for you (Chan) to become an international action star.” (AP)

Here’s my question: If this is how you really feel, Jackie Chan, then go back to your country and enjoy the limited freedom and leave ours alone. Why are you biting the hand that help feed you (in both countries)?

Rap artist T.I. was officially sentenced to 366 days in federal prison today. Under federal rules, that extra day means T.I. will receive time off his sentence for good behavior plus time served while he awaited arraignment following his arrest on gun charges in 2007.

A federal judge approved a plea deal Friday that is expected to send Atlanta rapper T.I. to prison for a little less than 10 months for trying to buy machine guns and ammo from undercover agents in 2007. U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell sentenced T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., to one year and one day under the negotiated plea. But the deal qualifies T.I. for credits likely to cut the sentence to about 298 days.

The 27-year-old rapper, clad in a dark suit, thanked the judge and prosecutors for giving him the chance to cut his prison time by speaking to youths about the pitfalls of crime, drugs and gangs. He has delivered that message to thousands in recent months.

“It means just as much to me to make you guys proud for what you have done as it does for me to make myself and my family proud,” he said at the sentencing hearing in downtown Atlanta.

“I’m a man of integrity. I’m a man of morals, of standards, of principle,” the entertainer said.

Pannell said he would not have approved the deal — which includes far less prison time than federal guidelines call for on the weapons charges involved — if U.S. Attorney David Nahmias had not recommended it.

“I think it’s been a good experiment,” the judge said. “I’ve come to resist the lockup mentality that we often find ourselves in… . maybe it will lead to similar experimental sentencings.”

Panell also told T.I. directly: “I congratulate you on the year of work you have done so far.”

In last night’s presser that pre-empted regular programming for an hour of lies and half truths, Obama side stepped a question from Chip Reid who wanted to know what fool solves a problem by compounding it?

At both of your town hall meetings in California last week, you said, quote, ”I didn’t run for president to pass on our problems to the next generation.” But under your budget, the debt will increase $7 trillion over the next 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office says $9.3 trillion. And today on Capitol Hill, some Republicans called your budget, with all the spending on health care, education and environment, the most irresponsible budget in American history.

Isn’t that kind of debt exactly what you were talking about when you said passing on our problems to the next generation?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: First of all, I suspect that some of those Republican critics have a short memory, because as I recall, I’m inheriting a $1.3 trillion deficit, annual deficit, from them.

 

Only a narcissist like Obama thinks inheriting $1.3 trillion in debt from his predecessor is worse than adding $7-8 trillion in debt on top of it.

The American people who will end up paying for Obama’s reckless spending have a right to be angry.

This year has been so far the “let’s give it another try” year for celebs. Unfortunately, it isn’t working out and Jennifer Aniston has now joined the club. Recent reports have come out stating that Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have decided to end their “second chance” relationship. They have been spending time apart lately, and when Jennifer came back from Europe, she was there promoting the Marley and Me movie, fights were reported and they agreed to end it. John, be John, is claiming that he broke up with her. I guess John couldn’t handle the big life of a movie star, I hear its a thousand times better than a musician’s life.

I hope she finds what she is looking for and deserves. Life is hard in the love department after being married to Bradd Pitt and then cheated on with Angela Jolie. But don’t worry Jennifer fans, she is surrounded with those that love her….like me.

I mean seriously….
